N05 was one of five undeveloped plots within the former Athletes Village (now known as East Village). We were appointed to develop the design of N05 within the context of a masterplan for these plots produced by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands.

The development comprises 48 affordable family residential units with retail and community use on the ground floor. The plot also includes a public open space that incorporates a Neighbourhood Equipped Area of Play (NEAP) that offers a range of play opportunities for children of different ages.

A challenging trapezoidal plot with public realm on all sides has been resolved into a striking triangular building that responds to the conflicting geometries of East Village to the west and Celebration Avenue to the east. The building sits on the eastern side of the plot buffering the adjacent NEAP to the west from Celebration Avenue. The triangular building form is developed into a visual motif for the building with projecting and inset triangular balconies and splayed window reveals giving the building a strong visual coherence which is carried through to the design of the NEAP.
