Project
New homes and playspace in the Olympic Park

Posted on 10 July 2023

Gradually over the last decade the former Olympic Village, now known as East Village, has evolved into a genuine neighbourhood. N05 is one of the last pieces to come to fruition. Located at the northern corner of East Village it addresses Chobham Manor to the north and Maryland to the East. 48 affordable family homes for social rent sit over retail and community use and over 1,000 sqm of Neighbourhood Equipped Area of Play (NEAP) that offers a range of play opportunities for children of different ages for the wider community.

The striking triangular building for Get Living results from the clashing geometries of Celebration Avenue and the orthogonal layout of East Village and shelters the play space from the adjacent road. The triangular geometry extends into the splayed brick window reveals. Triple-aspect wheelchair-accessible flats are located at the prominent ‘prow’ of the building with balconies offering panoramic views across East Village.

A palette of high-quality, durable materials, robust grey brick and cream precast concrete, and generous private balconies mark this building as an exceptional example of social housing. Credit to HG Construction (contractors) and MSMR Architects (Delivery Architects) for delivering the building to such a high standard.
