Get to know us
Bell Phillips was established in 2004 after Tim Bell and Hari Phillips won an international design competition to carry out a significant regeneration project in East London. Since this first £8 million project, the practice has grown to a team of 30, with Melissa Dowler appointed as the third Director in 2017.

We carefully select our team for their passion, intelligence, commitment, and energy. The skills of these individuals, their responsibilities, and the collaborative way they work together make our studio a special, stimulating, and enjoyable place (the office pups help too!). We always welcome applications from talented architects looking to help us create / uplifting places and / build for the future.

Raising Awareness
We encourage job applications from underrepresented groups to build a business that reflects our society. To avoid bias, we partake in blind recruitment to ensure we are selecting candidates based on merit and against objective criteria that can lead to subconscious discrimination.

At Bell Phillips, we have an Equality and Inclusion Team that meets monthly to review policy, plan training and CPDs, consider equality and inclusion in our designs, and seek opportunities to provide work experience, mentoring and apprenticeships. We are active members of advocate groups such as the Mayor’s Access and Aspiration Employability Programme and helped form the London Practice Forum Ethical Charter.
