Commissioned by Canterbury City Council, East Street and Warwick Road projects bring two vacant sites back into productive use. Two new buildings provide 22 homes for affordable rent and have been designed to meet the evolving needs of residents.
All homes meet the highest standards of accessibility and functionality, with level thresholds, generous door widths and carefully considered internal layouts. Entrances are clearly defined and secure, while circulation areas prioritise ease of movement throughout.
At East Street, accessible, adaptable homes are tailored to the needs of older residents looking to downsize. 11 two-bedroom houses, each with private gardens and at least one ground floor bedroom, offer comfort and flexibility to support residents through all stages of life. A shared landscaped court encourages neighbourly interaction, while private front and rear gardens offer a balance of social engagement and peaceful retreat.
Similarly on Warwick Road, a new five-story building comprised of 11 homes maximises the site’s potential while responding sensitively to nearby homes and the open space of Bab’s Hill. Each dwelling is dual aspect with generous windows and private balconies, affording long views across the city and surrounding landscape.
