Studio trip to Brussels and Antwerp
Posted on 20 May 2025
Our annual studio trip took us to Belgium this year — three days in Brussels and Antwerp packed with architecture, team building, and just the right amount of cheese and mustard.
We kicked off in Brussels with lunch at the Gare Maritime food court by Neutelings Riedijk, before heading to BC Materials to learn about building with earth, then explored the evolving Tours & Taxis site. A quick train ride later, we arrived in Antwerp.
Day two was a day of contrasts — from RSHP’s sail-like Vlinderpaleis to the varied and vibrant Nieuw Zuid district. We climbed the layers of the MAS museum (another Neutelings Riedijk creation), wandered through the Cadix housing development, gazed at Zaha Hadid’s sculptural Port Authority, and wrapped up with drinks at Paniek, nestled between the water and warehouses.
On the final day, we browsed the Theatreplein market, returned to Brussels for an Art Nouveau walking tour, and visited the iconic Horta Museum, which divided opinion.
As ever, the journey sparked fresh thinking, debate, and the usual architectural envy. Already dreaming of where next year might take us.
