Rippling brick facades in the Lisson Grove Conservation Area

Posted on 7 November 2023

Rippling brick facades in subtle brick tones distinguish these 49 new homes in Cosway Street Marylebone, for Westminster City Council.

Set within Marylebone's historic Lisson Grove conservation area the project presented an opportunity to repair a degraded streetscape, enhancing the historic setting with a building that is contemporary yet responsive to its context. We found a response to the neighbourhood’s late Victorian and Georgian architecture in a motif of scalloped brick facades that unifies the building’s language whilst registering the rhythms and proportions of the neighbouring streets through variations in dimension, rhythm and brick tone.

Cosway Street forms part of the first phase of the Church Street masterplan. Our development of Church Street sites A, B and C, comprising over 1,100 new homes, forms part of the second phase of the masterplan.
