Sustainable Approaches to Net-Zero with the NLA

Posted on 12 January 2026

Join us on Thursday 22 January with the NLA to address one of the housing sector’s most pressing challenges: delivering homes that are both financially viable and environmentally sustainable. With rising construction costs and tightening climate targets, this balance has become critical for local authorities, developers and housebuilders.

Here at Bell Phillips, and in collaboration with cost consultants, Gardiner and Theobald, and structural engineers, Webb Yates, we have explored design strategies for simpler, leaner high-rise buildings that use less material and reduce structural weight. The results are compelling, achieving over 30% reductions in embodied carbon while simultaneously cutting costs, demonstrating that sustainability can strengthen viability rather than compromise it.
