Gasholder Park wins at Architecture Today Awards

Posted on 15 December 2023

Open space is such a precious resource in our cities. The opportunity to pause in our hectic, stressful lives is vital. From the outset we wanted Gasholder Park to offer a moment of stillness - the circular form of the gasholder almost denoting a full stop - and take a breath before diving back into the city. With its beautiful location adjacent to the Regents Canal offering south-facing views towards the West End and the stunning Victorian gasholder soaring above, the key was to not do too much. Just enough intervention to invite people to dwell but not so much to overwhelm the setting.

It is gratifying that it was this sensitivity that was commended by the judging panel in awarding Gasholder Park an Architecture Today Award. The Architecture Today Awards recognize buildings that stand the test of time and Gasholder Park has flourished into a delightful space that effortlessly accommodates yoga workouts, fashion shows, children’s play, and TV filming as well as space for an intimate conversation, reading a book or just watching the world go by.

For us it’s one of the best spaces in London but then, we are biased.
