Elephant Park Pavilion approved
Planning consent has been granted for a new pavilion and public realm in Elephant Park, Elephant and Castle. The new pavilion for Lendlease will be the centrepiece of the new park, accommodating WCs, food and beverage kiosks, a new community space and a viewing terrace overlooking the park.
Sustainability has been the central principle for the design. The pavilion extends around an existing London Plane tree giving park users a different perspective on this wonderful natural asset whilst the pavilion is constructed from cross-laminated timber (CLT) and timber cladding to reduce the embodied energy of the building.
Construction will commence in the Autumn with the pavilion due to be completed in 2021.
