Planning submitted for school dining hall in Kent
Planning has been submitted for a new dining hall and study space for Rainham Mark Grammar School in Kent. The new hall will help the school accommodate its growing intake and improve the quality of its facilities for sixth form students.
The monopitch structure addresses a landscaped forecourt incorporating existing mature trees. A chequerboard of glazing provides views, daylight and passive ventilation to mitigate overheating. A glulam timber structure, which will be constructed offsite to minimise the impact on the school, and low energy design make this a sustainable addition to the school campus.
