This project comprised the refurbishment and remodeling of a Grade II Listed house in a Conservation Area on London’s South Bank to meet the needs of the existing residents. Our proposals involved a complete re-organisation of the ground floor to make better use of existing space and to provide the client with a study at the rear of the building. The loft space has been converted into a light and spacious living area with south facing views and the stair has been opened up to allow light to flood down through the house. The interior design is characterised by integral fixed furniture finished in a ‘pippy oak’ veneer. Due to the sensitivity of the existing building we worked closely with the Local Authority Conservation Officer to agree a strategy for part retention and part alteration to the existing listed structure.
